Move over tie-dying...painting polo shirts is the new birthday party craze. Ralph Lauren took the scrambling through the craft-store out of the equation for your little one's next bash by offering the Paint Your Polo kit for $45. The kit is intended for kids age six and up and includes a boy's or girl's white polo shirt in varying sizes, bright non-toxic paints, sponge brushes, a stamp, and instructions all in a festive paint can. 100% of the proceeds will support the Pediatric Art Program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Gourmet ice cream makers, Philippe Faur, have created some of the most decadent ice creams and sorbets around and even their new savory line lives up to that expectation. With such flavors as mustard, caviar and black truffle these ice creams can be used to enhance sauces or exist as side dishes themselves -- not just as the dessert course. One of this French company's most luxurious offerings is the Foie Gras ice cream which is made from 50% bloc foie gras de canard. I have to say as a dessert I have no interest but in combination with a meal I am sure this unique scoop would impress even the most sophisticated of palates. For the larger 100mL size it will cost you about 118€...maybe I'll just take the sample for a spin.

Survival International, Charity of the Day
A came across this organization when writing about Pippa Small's jewelry and thought I just had to include it in our Charity of the Day series. Survival International's mission is to protect tribal people's land and culture across the globe from encroaching governments and corporations whose expansion may very well wipe out these native populations. These secluded communities won't be able to preserve their way of life if other ambitious parties are not held in check. Support for this organization is possible through active participation such as sponsoring events, writing letters or becoming a campaigner (joining Richard Gere and Pippa Small as well) or through various levels of donations. Their website does a fantastic job of sharing their cause and enlightening those of us who wouldn't have known the depths of this struggle otherwise.

Gas Given as Lottery Prize?
You know gas is expensive when it can substitute for a monetary prize in the Florida State Lottery. I'm not sure when exactly this started or how long it will last but the current winner will receive free gas for life...with a catch. Not knowing how high gas prices will continue to climb and not wanting to over commit themselves, the Florida State Lottery has decided to offer twenty-six prepaid gas cards of $100 each to the winner each year for the rest of their life. (I bet they are hoping that the winner is a grandparent and not an eighteen-year-old). Although I'm sure it is a great deal I have to say I would be more excited about winning a quarter of a million dollars...you?

I am a certifiable tote girl -- need one for travel, one for daily errands, one for lugging my laptop to coffee shops, and one to fill at the farmer's market. So its no surprise I have gravitated towards the totes of all the bags available from Coach. The Bleecker line has a functional style without unnecessary accents, plenty of colors and materials to choose from, and a hefty size to handle any of my tote needs. Personally I'm a big fan of the classic brown with the all-important C-logo but then again I do have a serious crush on chocolate brown.
