Platinum Mercedes Keychain
Thanks to an alert reader, I think we may have uncovered the most expensive keychain we have ever seen here at Luxist. Mercedes Benz Canada sells a keychain for $22,239.99 CAN (approx $19,900 USD). It is made from .950 platinum and the brushed finish bears the Mercedes logo on the sides, as well as an appliqued emblem on top. We're still wondering if they keychain includes anything with it - like a car.
They also carry an 18K gold (.750) keychain in the same style for $7,469.99 CAN.

thieves won't try to steal the benz, but they'll go for the keychain instead. what a brilliant idea.

OH my god. The first thing that comes to mind is it has a gps in it that pinpoints where it is at all times and doesn't disconnect from your key so you ca'nt lose it. If they steal your car you know where they are. If they hotwire your car you could just walk into your house and the blue tooth uses your computer to locate your vehicle in the area because it's not within 100 ft of your house. If not then you are notified by phone that your car is not there and would like it to be located and the authorities notified. Not really what it does but what it better do if I'm paying 19k for a f*ckin' key chain.... Idiots.

Depending on what platinum goes for it may be the perfect way to get money out of the country without paying duty

worth every penny..!

Number 2 I think that money would have been better spent on some typing lessons. Then you could have learned to use upper case for "i" and other basic skills.
By the way, it's nice you have the keychain, I have the car.

well... I don't have the keychain or the car and couldn't afford the insurance even if I my some miracle obtained one of these. I do have a pretty snazzy pewter keychain though, and nobody trying to kill me to get it.

Sandi, wonderful comeback!
Number two definetely seems to have more money than brains. IF the statement is even true - which I seriously doubt with his/her boasting. Then again; money can buy a costly (although otherwise dull) keychain - what it does not buy is CLASS.

Who cares what it costs. This is one of those deals where if you have to ask you can't afford it.

I have a Dooney and Burke keychain that I bought on sale for $15 and I was upset that I spent too much on a stupid thing. Now I feel like Einstein. For 20000 I can even explain the theory of relativity to you and not stumble.

I think number 2's comments was actually a joke...sarcasm (which doesn't come across very well over the net)...mmm sorta like that Volkswager commercial where all the people with nice cars are shouting slogans out the window like "Daddy never hugged me."
-At least thats how I took it...
Amaka Jul 9th 2006 4:51PM
Not sure why all the negative comments:-)I say if it makes you happy and you can afford it...do your thing...Life is too short...cheers!!

A car just gets you from point A to B...Now a key chain is something to flash around at the bar and twirl around your finger... I have two brand new Scion keychains anyone is welcome to have for free, for those that would rather have their money in the bank compounding interest.

All I have to say is what price ego. $19,000 bucks....how many people could be helped with one keychain. Sad how little inner self is there for those people who need these kinds of toys to make themselves feel worthy.
Tuz Jul 9th 2006 6:21PM
I'm happy that No. 2 has one key chain....only one. I have two!
Donna Briggs Jul 9th 2006 6:51PM
I would hope with that keychain your driving a 250,000 car which is going up your driveway to your 5,000,000+ vacation home on Jupiter Island Florida comming from landing your Lear jet from some lite shopping and lunch in Paris... Donna Briggs

I think the keychain is really an experiment that Mercedes is secretly conducting to find out who the ding dongs are who are dumb enough to purchase it. All of the MBZ exec's are cracking up...

That is so ridiculous, why? There are people like me who work hard for their money and yet, can't afford to put food on the table. Living paycheck to paycheck and just trying to make ends meet. If I could wear the shoes of those who can afford to purchase that key chain..I would use that money instead to help those less fortunate..children with no medical/dental insurance etc....Like I said, keychain...ridiculous.

I don't have the key chain, but .. I do have 5 wonderful children, grandchildren and blessed with 2 great grandchlldren. Their hugs and I love you mom or grandma are PRICELESS. Bet you don't get that from your keychains. Oh yes, and even my daughter/son in laws give me hugs I feel so sorry for people who don't have the love of their family because there is nothing in the world like it.
