Britney's Porsche Speedster

Britney Spears, possibly looking for a car that would get her away from the paparazzi quicker than her SUV, picked up a gorgeous, silver 1956 Porsche 356A Speedster this week. The classic car is the design that catapulted the Porsche into popularity in the US. The car looks like it's in prime condition and is probably worth in the neighborhood of $70,000, though it is certainly worth a lot in terms of style.
Of course, like so many young drivers, Brit doesn't know how to drive a manual transmission; the guy beside her is her instructor.

Great.. another car that a celeb... (and a retarded one at that) that's going to ruin a classic car. She's prolly going to end up putting her filthy, nasty feet from public bathrooms on the floorboards... and try to jam in her car seats for her children. I'm sure the instructor is kicking himself in the ass for teaching her how to drive that car.

Ha. That's just ridiculous. She has no need for this vehicle, it's impractical as her husbands rap career.

That sure looks like one of the very common $25K fiberglass replicas available readily in the market. Essentially a glorified VW. The mirror is wrong, and the wheels and hubcaps are way wrong.
Its a fake. Seems fitting.

This is going to turn into another James Dean Porsche within a few months. The poor car, what a shame!

I hope someone tells her it's illegal to put a baby in the front seat until they're 5 or 55lbs. ;)

Tom F. and others, "What's wrong with a glorified VW?" In this particular instance you got a girl with a lot of money, a sense of style and so she likes what looks like a speedster.
Would you rather see her learning to drive the real-deal on Rodeo Dr?
Do you want to spend countless hours trying to make her as anal as you with regard to Porsche lore? (Maybe I need to rephrase that, butt I think you get my drift!)
The smart money is on the replica. Reliable, easier to fix, cheaper insurance, and she can tracksand from the beach and into the car knowing she can just turn a hose on it. It won't rust!

Obviously, a rare "lapse" in tase for Ms. Spears. My money's on the replica - as has been noted elsewhere, I doubt she'd get to the end of her drive before trashing the synchros if it were a real one. Replica or no, I hope this doesn't start a new fashion among the young, monied hipster set. The though of talentless, pointless, vacuous, crass ----s like Brandon Davis, Paris Hilton, Lohan, Jlo, PDiddy (or whatever he's calling himself these days), Kimbo Stewart, and the like driving around defiling classic cars is revolting.

The car looks great. Britney is very sexy women, but this combination between Britney and a classic car like
the Porsche 356A Speedster is not the best choice.
